COURT CARDS of the MINOR ARCANA

Court cards in a reading almost always indicate people that are or have been in the Querent's life. They can also indicate the probable personality tratis of someone about to come into the Querent's life or the Querent themself. Court cards can also symbolize events, for instance, Pages can indicate a "message" and Knights a "movement" or a "trip." Through Zodiac symbols one can tell which kind of person each court card represents. For example, the Queen of Wands is a Leo. The pentacle court card which has a field of wheat in it is undoubtedly Virgo, whether it is King, Queen or Knight.

The Kings are the motivating force (Fire = the sun waking up the sleeping Earth). The Queens are the ones who enable things that can grow, to do so (water = rain bringing forth life from the earth). The Knights spread the idea of the Kingdom (wind = spreading the seeds). The Pages are the fertile soil from which all things grow.

PAGES

The element of Pages is Earth, indicating something young and growing, such as a planted seed. The Page of Wands would be "Earth of Fire", the seed of fire or a spark. A page can indicate the beginning of something new for the Querent, like an apprenticeship. Pages in a spread can also indicate that the Querent is about to receive a message. The purpose of a Page is to deliver messages.

KNIGHTS

The element of Knights is Air, and they are associated with the spirit of the young adult or teenager. Knights in a spread suggest movement and travel. They represent less cynical and more fierce beliefs, which is why they are viewed as powerful and almost unquestioningly loyal to a kingdom or cause.

QUEENS

The element of Queens is Water and they are thought to signify a creative force. Queens are reflections of the Empress. In a spread Queens indicate a time of growth and development, a time when the Querent is enabling things that can grow, to do so.

KINGS

The element of Kings is Fire, and they are associated with passion and a driving force. Kings are reflections of the Emperor, and like him they are planners, motivators, commanders, creators, and the ones who rally everyone together to form the Kingdom. Kings in a spread indicate motivation and the process of change.
